ESG, CSR & Environmental Reporting
Sample projects
Environmental reports for a Fortune 10 company
Technically I'm not supposed to say which company, and I am indeed a rule-follower. This trait served me well for multiple years of being the agency content manager for annual 50-70 page reports with an exceptionally detail-oriented, fast-moving, highly prescriptive client stakeholder who knew millions of eyes might be scrutinizing the end result.
I was pulled onto the team for this project because no one else was able to fully keep up with the client's expectations for rapid communication, vetting and correct reflection of all data and disclosures from the spreadsheet inputs into the PDF, and rigorous quality assurance. I thrived in the role and even ended up pursuing a GRI certification for sustainability reporting.

Supply chain reports for a Fortune 10 company
Same company, but a different stakeholder with different needs. For the supply chain reports, the client wanted active involvement in all stages, from designing the spreadsheets where her team would track data to developmental editing and even some writing of the narrative report copy. This work enabled me to stretch different muscles: finding ways to communicate needs to the client's team to get them to provide the information needed, offering data visualization mockups to the design team, determining the clearest way to communicate data in story form.

Corporate social responsibility report for a risk assessment firm
For this project, I got a crash course in disclosure frameworks other than GRI, including the SDGs, SASB, CDP, and TCFD. What I love about disclosure frameworks is the structure they provide. It's like a grammar, in a way, sometimes fluid but always with an underpinning of (evolving) guidelines that serve the purpose of getting to a common understanding.
Anyway, what was most interesting to me about this project is how stingy the client stakeholders were with their inputs. Ultimately I wrote quite a bit of the first draft of this report myself, based on cobbling together what bits of information I had in a way that fit the requirements of the reporting frameworks.

One of the sneakily complex tables from the 2018 supply chain report.
A portion of the TCFD section of the report, with copy cobbled together by yours truly.
